Chapter 26

1 Then all3605 the people5971 of Judah3063 took3947 853 Uzziah,5818 who1931 was sixteen8337 6240 years8141 old,1121 and made him king4427 853 in the room of8478 his father1 Amaziah.558

2 He1931 built1129 853 Eloth,359 and restored7725 it to Judah,3063 after that310 the king4428 slept7901 with5973 his fathers.1

3 Sixteen8337 6240 years8141 old1121 was Uzziah5818 when he began to reign,4427 and he reigned4427 fifty2572 and two8147 years8141 in Jerusalem.3389 His mother's517 name8034 also was Jecoliah3203 of4480 Jerusalem.3389

4 And he did6213 that which was right3477 in the sight5869 of the LORD,3068 according to all3605 that834 his father1 Amaziah558 did.6213

5 And he sought1961 1875 God430 in the days3117 of Zechariah,2148 who had understanding995 in the visions7200 of God:430 and as long as3117 he sought1875 853 the LORD,3068 God430 made him to prosper.6743

6 And he went forth3318 and warred3898 against the Philistines,6430 and broke down6555 853 the wall2346 of Gath,1661 and the wall2346 of Jabneh,2996 and the wall2346 of Ashdod,795 and built1129 cities5892 about Ashdod,795 and among the Philistines.6430

7 And God430 helped5826 him against5921 the Philistines,6430 and against5921 the Arabians6163 that dwelt3427 in Gur-baal,1485 and the Mehunims.4586

8 And the Ammonites5984 gave5414 gifts4503 to Uzziah:5818 and his name8034 spread abroad1980 even to5704 the entering in935 of Egypt;4714 for3588 he strengthened2388 himself exceedingly.5704 4605

9 Moreover Uzziah5818 built1129 towers4026 in Jerusalem3389 at5921 the corner6438 gate,8179 and at5921 the valley1516 gate,8179 and at5921 the turning4740 of the wall, and fortified2388 them.

10 Also he built1129 towers4026 in the desert,4057 and digged2672 many7227 wells:953 for3588 he had1961 much7227 cattle,4735 both in the low country,8219 and in the plains:4334 husbandmen406 also, and vinedressers3755 in the mountains,2022 and in Carmel:3760 for3588 he loved1961 157 husbandry.127

11 Moreover Uzziah5818 had1961 a host2428 of fighting men,6213 4421 that went out3318 to war6635 by bands,1416 according to the number4557 of their account6486 by the hand3027 of Jeiel3273 the scribe5608 and Maaseiah4641 the ruler,7860 under5921 the hand3027 of Hananiah,2608 one of the king's4428 captains.4480 8269

12 The whole3605 number4557 of the chief7218 of the fathers1 of the mighty men1368 of valor2428 were two thousand505 and six8337 hundred.3967

13 And under5921 their hand3027 was an army,2428 6635 three7969 hundred3967 thousand505 and seven7651 thousand505 and five2568 hundred,3967 that made6213 war4421 with mighty2428 power,3581 to help5826 the king4428 against5921 the enemy.341

14 And Uzziah5818 prepared3559 for them throughout all3605 the host6635 shields,4043 and spears,7420 and helmets,3553 and habergeons,8302 and bows,7198 and slings7050 to cast stones.68

15 And he made6213 in Jerusalem3389 engines,2810 invented4284 by cunning men,2803 to be1961 on5921 the towers4026 and upon5921 the bulwarks,6438 to shoot3384 arrows2671 and great1419 stones68 withal. And his name8034 spread3318 far abroad;5704 4480 7350 for3588 he was marvelously6381 helped,5826 till5704 3588 he was strong.2388

16 But when he was strong,2394 his heart3820 was lifted up1361 to5704 his destruction:7843 for he transgressed4603 against the LORD3068 his God,430 and went935 into413 the temple1964 of the LORD3068 to burn incense6999 upon5921 the altar4196 of incense.7004

17 And Azariah5838 the priest3548 went in935 after310 him, and with5973 him fourscore8084 priests3548 of the LORD,3068 that were valiant men:1121 2428

18 And they withstood5975 5921 Uzziah5818 the king,4428 and said559 unto him, It appertaineth not3808 unto thee, Uzziah,5818 to burn incense6999 unto the LORD,3068 but3588 to the priests3548 the sons1121 of Aaron,175 that are consecrated6942 to burn incense:6999 go out3318 of4480 the sanctuary;4720 for3588 thou hast trespassed;4603 neither3808 shall it be for thine honor3519 from the LORD4480 3068 God.430

19 Then Uzziah5818 was wroth,2196 and had a censer4730 in his hand3027 to burn incense:6999 and while he was wroth2196 with5973 the priests,3548 the leprosy6883 even rose up2224 in his forehead4696 before6440 the priests3548 in the house1004 of the LORD,3068 from beside4480 5921 the incense7004 altar.4196

20 And Azariah5838 the chief7218 priest,3548 and all3605 the priests,3548 looked6437 upon413 him, and, behold,2009 he1931 was leprous6879 in his forehead,4696 and they thrust him out926 from thence;4480 8033 yea, himself1931 hasted1765 also1571 to go out,3318 because3588 the LORD3068 had smitten5060 him.

21 And Uzziah5818 the king4428 was1961 a leper6879 unto5704 the day3117 of his death,4194 and dwelt3427 in a several2669 house,1004 being a leper;6879 for3588 he was cut off1504 from the house4480 1004 of the LORD:3068 and Jotham3147 his son1121 was over5921 the king's4428 house,1004 judging8199 853 the people5971 of the land.776

22 Now the rest3499 of the acts1697 of Uzziah,5818 first7223 and last,314 did Isaiah3470 the prophet,5030 the son1121 of Amoz,531 write.3789

23 So Uzziah5818 slept7901 with5973 his fathers,1 and they buried6912 him with5973 his fathers1 in the field7704 of the burial6900 which834 belonged to the kings;4428 for3588 they said,559 He1931 is a leper:6879 and Jotham3147 his son1121 reigned4427 in his stead.8478

7 Всевышний помогал ему в битве против филистимлян, арабов, которые жили в Гур-Баале, и меунитян.

13 Под их началом было войско из трёхсот семи тысяч пятисот обученных воинов, – огромная сила, чтобы помогать царю в битве против врагов.

14 Уззия заготовил для всего войска щиты, копья, шлемы, латы, луки и камни для пращей.

15 В Иерусалиме он соорудил машины, придуманные искусными мастерами, чтобы с башен и с углов городских стен пускать стрелы и метать огромные камни. Слава о нём распространилась далеко, он получал большую помощь и стал могущественным царём.

16 Но когда Уззия обрёл могущество, гордыня привела его к падению. Он нарушил верность Вечному, своему Богу, и вошёл в храм Вечного, чтобы возжечь благовония на жертвеннике.

17 Священнослужитель Азария и с ним ещё восемьдесят священнослужителей, мужественных людей, вошли вслед за ним,

18 преградили ему путь и сказали: – Не подобает тебе, Уззия, возжигать Вечному благовония. Это удел священнослужителей, потомков Харуна, которые были посвящены, чтобы возжигать благовония. Покинь святилище – ты совершил преступление, и не будешь в чести у Вечного Бога!

19 Уззия, который держал в руке сосуд для возжигания благовоний и был уже готов совершать приношение, разгневался. И в то время, когда он гневался на священнослужителей, у него на лбу появилась проказа. . Это произошло на глазах у священнослужителей, в храме Вечного, перед жертвенником.

20 Когда главный священнослужитель Азария и все остальные священнослужители посмотрели на него, они увидели это, и поспешили вывести его оттуда. Да и сам он спешил уйти, потому что Вечный поразил его.
